Brown Bear Brawl

A few hours outside of Ashland, Oregon is the small town of Winston. They're not well-known for anyone famous, or any big historic events. They're actually famous for the Winston Widlife Safari, located just outside of town on a vast expense of beautiful land. The Safari is AZA-accredited and is noted for their success in breeding cheetahs, but despite being a big cat fanatic, it was the bears that caught my attention...

Since we weren't driving the truck this time, I was able to stand up in the front seat and shoot out of the sun roof, allowing for a great view and photo shooting opportunity.

Needless to say, these two brown bears were the highlight of the trip, since all they wanted to do was wrestle around and play in the pond. The great part this is that they're not contained in a typical zoo-like enclosure, and have a very large expanse of grassland in which to roam. They were very active, and despite the cold and rain (I couldn't feel my fingers), seemed keener on entertaining themselves than simply sleeping.
