Coyote-Wolf Skin Headdress

Description

This pelt is actually from a rare hybrid between a Canada timber wolf and a normal coyote, hence the unique markings and enormous size. These hybrids are often refferred to as a "coy-wolf" and display characteristics of both species, however, a more correct term for them would actually be "wolf-ote" on account of the fact that the males in such pairings are usually wolves.

This one was struck by a car near Ontario, and was, like most of the roadkill I've worked with, in pretty rough shape when I got him. There were a few large holes in his face, and several behind his ears which had to be sewn shut. There was also a bit of tar stuck to the fur on his cheek. I very maticulously brushed it out with a fine-toothed comb, and was promped to affectionately nickname him 'Tar-Face'.

Tar-Face has some of THE MOST beuatiful markings of any canid I've worked with to date. There are too many colors on this guy to count! He's got everything: White, tan, silver, chocolate brown, gold, and black. He's also SUPER soft, with huge 3" guard hairs and lush winter underfur. His facial markings are very wolflike as well, and the contrast between the light and dark areas on his sides and legs is phenomenal.

He measures 62" long from tip of the nose to the tip of the tail. Face is 6" across.

The whole skin is backed by a single piece of sandstone-colored felt, from the base of the tail to the tip of the nose. The felt protects the skin from damage and tearing, which ensures that it will last longer and remain more durable during wear.

Only the eye-holes are left uncovered so that you can tie the coywolf's face over your own like a mask, allowing you to literally 'see though' the animal's eyes. There are two strips of recycled black buckskin leather on either side of the face so you can tie it behind your head or under your chin as seen in the photos.

I can also make headdresses from virtually any skin you provide for me, including mountain lion, bear, wolf, coyote, fox, lynx, and bobcat.
