Fur Tails For Sale

An array of genuine fur tails I offer for sale on Etsy.

I will usually have these in stock or can get them within a few weeks' time with the exception of the light silver fox tails. I have chosen images of tails which are already sold, but which best represent what the majority of the species' tails look like. But since nature has a mind of its own, no two tails will look EXACTLY alike.

In no particular order, the tails I have are:


1) Cross Fox. These foxes have a coat that is a cross between red and silver, and are mottled with a neat array of range and coal black. Most have the white tip on the end. Average length is about 17" long.

2) Silver Fox. Silver foxes are a dark color variant of the red fox. They have black tails with a few scattered silver hairs at the top. Some are light in color than others. Have white tips. Average length is about 17" long.

3) Australian Red Fox. From invasive non-native red foxes culled to save the local ecology of Australia. They are red with brown and orange in them. Not as fluffy as Noth American red fox and don't have white tips. Average length is 13".

4) Kit Fox. Desert kit foxes are one of the smallest fox species in the USA. Some are more gray than others.They have sandy-colored tails that average about 11" long.

5) Raccoon. North American raccoon tails have full fur and a reddish color to them. Most 'coon tails you see from fur companies have a blue dye added to change the color; these are natural. Measure about 13" long.

6) Light Silver Fox. Pale gray in color with an almost blue undertone and darker guard hairs. Most have white tips. Average about 20" long.

7) Coyote. Range in color from reddish-brown to medium gray. Have black tips on the ends. Average length is 15" long.

8) North American Red Fox. Red-orange with darker red guard hairs. Most have white tips. Very soft and fully-furred. Average size is about 16".

On occasion, I will also have arctic fox tails, ringtail cat tails, and wolf tails. The tails pictured above are simply the most common ones I offer.

I do not have tails from species that live outside the USA with the exception of the Australian red fox and occasionally Australian brush possum. Both of these species are non-native and pose a great threat to Australia's fragile island ecosystem.

Most of the other tails I sell come from the Fish and Game Deparment's auctions, or from out-of-business fur companies. Some are vintage. Many come from roadkill.

All of the tails I offer are professionally tanned and cleaned. I brush and shampoo them myself when they arrive and brush them once more before I send them out.

Prices range from $20.00 to $50.00 depending on size, quality of the fur, quality of the leather, and coloration.
