Mongoose Pelt by NaturePunk Mongoose Pelt by NaturePunk
A friend of mine lives on an island where these mongooses are a non-native invasive species. They eat the eggs and young of native animals - some of which are critically endangered. Though the island has a cull program in place, not much is done with the pelts of the mongooses killed, so my friend has experimented with crude tanning methods to help preserve them.

This pelt has been SOLD, but I do have another which is tanned a little better than this, and I'm on the fence about selling it because it's actually kind of cool. If I did offer it for sale, how many people would be interested if the asking price were in the $40.00 range?

Hey, I live in Hawai'i, I can trap those guys for ya and send them to you if you'd like!

I'd be able to skin them or L/s and whatnot...I've been in taxidermy for a while now.
(i'm also the one trying to buy your blind deer on etsy<3)

That would be great! I'd love to mount a mongoose and support the eradication of a pest species. I can also give you a discount of the headdress in exchange for a few pelts if you'd like. :)

that'd be amazing!
I need to get a hold of my friend now, she has a farm on the other side of the island, with many cages to trap them in. I could put them around her chicken coop and snag a few.

Will do that now! I've not had access to stable internet since I haven't been able to set it up in the new condo. I've been staying at my boyfriend's place to accommodate.

I'd perhaps be interested in a $40-ish pelt. When are you thinking of posting it for sale if you do decide to sell it?

One of the minor outlaying islands (forgot which one specifically), but not Hawaii.

Indeed. Good guess on Hawaii, though! They've got a nasty mongoose problem, too.

Cool! I have friends who live there, but none are into taxidermy and the like. If I lived there, I'd be hunting those suckers all day long. They eat the eggs of endangered native wildlife, which obviously doesn't sit well with me.
