Mule Deer Cape Headdress by NaturePunk Mule Deer Cape Headdress by NaturePunk
Mule deer headdress made on commission for a film firm who will use this piece in a short film later in the year. This one was done with just the cape, not the full hide, so its easier to wear and is much lighter than my first 'blind' deer headdress.

Like the first one, THIS PIECE HAS BEEN CREATED FROM A RECYCLED PELT. The deer came to me from a man who works at a meat processing plant, and several of these capes were found in the basement. Being that the age on the tan was unknown, he sold me this cape nice and cheap, and only charged me once I rehydrated it to be sure it wasn't slipping.

Everything worked out well, and I actually like this one better than my first. The quality of my taxidermy work has improved so much so that I actually want to re-do the first one, but now with the influx of new commissions, I'll never have time.

Note: I did not kill this animal. If you have time to accuse, you have time to ask questions first. And if you don't like it, don't look.

Please do! Prices start at $60.00 for traditional headdress and $200.00 for full taxidermy.

I need to get access to some of these awesome sources of "throwaway" and recycled pelts so many people keep running across. <3 OMFG

It helps to be 'in the loop'. Try surfing forums and contacting local taxidermists.

It's not as heavy as you may think.
I added the straps on when the customer came to pick it up so that it would fit him properly (since he's far bigger than me). These images were taken an hour before he arrived.

I'm not sure yet. I hope to be getting a copy of the completed work when it's done, though. I can take clips from that and post them for all to see.
