Pre-orientation backpacking trip through the Sky Lakes Wilderness area. It was quite a hike, but totally worthwhile. Slept by the fire every night. Didn't need the tent. Things have changed since then and I'm sure this lake is frozen over while the trees are blanketed in snow.
There is a wonderful freedom about being able to get up and go camping almost any weekend I chose now. My parents were hardly the outdoorsy type, which kind of makes me wonder where I got it from. Either way, I'd have to say that it's one of my favorite parts about living in Southern Oregon.
