Arctic Wolf Face Headdress

Description

I live in a town where just about anything goes. Our main source of income comes from tourists who visit each year for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and as a result, Ashland is FULL of theater-type people year-round.

So when I walked into the 7/11 accross the street at 2:00 AM with this on my head, the young man at the register gave a nod of approval and asked where I got my mask. I told him that I made it and he seemed relatively more impressed. He then informed me that I wasn't the first person to walk into the store with a wolf on my head - another guy visiting from Alaska apprently wore a full headdress at the checkout counter last year. I didn't tell him that I had a few of those in my closet. I think that I'll surprise him later in the month when the moon is full. :D

At any rate, this is quite possibly one of my favorite wolf creations ever!

It's a face mask/headdress made from the MASSIVE head of an artcic wolf. It came from the same Alaskan Native that I got the tails from, and is recycled from skins used for lining parka hoods. All other parts including the meat and bones are put to use by the locals, ensuring that nothing goes to waste.

Obviously, I can't be 100% sure about it, but I'm fairly certain that this was a female wolf. It's rare that I mention this kind of thing, but I do feel a very unique energy coming from her, and the longer I keep her around, the more intense it feels. I would explain it in detail, but I can't find the right words to describe it.

I've included two silver 'tears' in the corner of each of her eyes. There are also two freshwater pearls and two rainbow moonstones on the sides of the leather straps attached to her lower-jaw.

The feathers are from a captive-bred snow goose and are held in place on the leather straps by steel beads. The two straps in the back are so that you can also tie it over you face and look out from the eye-holes. Those on the lower-jaw are so that you can tie it on top of your head like a hat. The ears stick upright on top of the wearer's head quite nicely, making this an excellent alternative to the more expensive full headdresses I offer.
